Jodhpur (The Blue City of India)



Jodhpur is India's Blue City, it's because of the fact that the entire city is painted in Blue color and you can appreciate the actual delight if you look from the famous Jodhpur Palace. It is being established as an important tourist hub. This is India's Sun City too, because the Sun shines throughout the year. The town's location still makes it popular among tourists as they have to travel far less distance to experience the luxurious life of the desert.

Memories of city:

Rao Jodha was a Rathore Clan rajput chief. It was he who laid the City's foundation in 1459. Subsequently, Rao Jodha invaded the neighboring territories to establish the entire region as Jodhpur Prince Territory. Mughals invaded India during the medieval period but Jodhpur remained intact because of his fealty against them. Jodhpur received some significant education in arts and architecture from the Mughals. Jodhpur had enjoyed his peaceful place among the other princely states during the Colonial Rule. When India achieved independence, the state capital of Rajasthan was called Jodhpur.

Economic conditions:

Such textiles, bicycles, metal utensils, glass pieces, carpets etc. are well known in commercial goods. It is an exporter of local hand made and embroidered goods. The area is also used to grow wheat, and special red chili varieties, which are too sweet. There are mining fields where the gypsum and salt are extracted. The town serves as a wool marketplace too.

Cultural Importance:

The city is primarily inhabited by the Rajasthan Rajputs, and hence Hinduism is the dominant culture or religion. Some of the Jain community is present here too, however. In Jodhpur, tourists from around the world flock to see the city's history, art and architecture in the past.

The city is packed with historic places worth a visit. The Mehrangarh Fort is Rajasthan's largest Fort and is located in Jodhpur's center. It is vast premises constructed on top of a hill, it features unbreakable security features, and thus remained untouched at all times. The town also has nice natural sites like lakes, temples and partial forest areas.
